01

What AI SEO actually is

AI SEO is the work of making a business easy for AI engines to find, understand, trust and recommend.

You will see the same work called generative engine optimisation, or GEO, and answer engine optimisation, or AEO. Both are also spelled the American way, optimization. The terms mean broadly the same thing. We say AI SEO because it is the phrase most people search for.

The practical difference from classic SEO is what winning looks like. Search gives a buyer ten links. An AI answer gives them two or three names and a recommendation. There is no second page to be on.

02

What we do

Every engagement is built from the same parts, so you always know what you are paying for.

  • AI SEO audit. We score whether AI crawlers can reach your site, whether your structured data describes your business properly, and whether your pages contain anything an engine can quote.
  • Technical fixes. Crawler access, schema, page structure and metadata. This decides whether you are eligible to be cited at all.
  • Content built to be quoted. Engines absorb specifics: prices, dates, definitions, comparisons, plain statements of fact. Brochure copy does not get quoted.
  • Pages for the questions buyers actually ask, in the phrasing they actually use when asking an engine for a recommendation.
  • Daily measurement in Samurai Visibility, our own dashboard, so you can see movement instead of taking our word for it.

03

How we measure it

We sample six AI surfaces every day: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode. For every buyer question we track, we record whether you were named, whether you were cited with a link, and which competitors were named alongside you.

That matters because AI visibility is not a stable ranking. Independent measurement puts day to day overlap in the sources AI engines cite at roughly 0.34 to 0.42, so one check on one day tells you very little. A screenshot of a flattering ChatGPT answer is not evidence. A daily series across six engines is.

04

Where we have proof

We work across the UK events industry: stand designers and contractors, furniture and equipment hire, lighting, AV and production, organisers, venues, caterers and planners. That is where our measured results are.

One exhibition client went from a verified zero to being named in 17.5% of answers across six engines in eight weeks. Verified means we confirmed the absence was real at the start, not a measurement failure, by checking that competitors were correctly detected in the same answers.

We are deliberately specific about the sector because it is where we can show you numbers rather than describe a process. If you are outside events we will tell you honestly on the call whether we are the right fit.

05

What the evidence says works

The published research is less flattering than the marketing around it, and it shapes how we work.

Being retrievable matters more than being clever. A 2026 survey of generative engine optimisation research found that moving a source higher in the retrieved set has a greater effect than most rewrites of the page itself. Ordinary search fundamentals are still the largest lever on whether an engine can use you at all.

There is no universal recipe. One benchmark found only three of fifty four optimisation method and industry combinations produced a significant gain. Tactics that work in one market fail in another, which is why we test per engine and per sector.

Engines disagree with each other. Audits put the overlap between the sources different engines cite at roughly 11% to 26%. Being named by Perplexity tells you almost nothing about whether ChatGPT will name you.

Optimising the wrong way can cost you. There is published evidence that tuning page bodies purely for citation can reduce ordinary search presence. We treat retrieval and citation as one problem rather than trading one for the other.

06

What we will not promise

Two things we will not claim, because the evidence does not support them.

AI engines do not send much traffic yet. Independent panel data puts referrals from AI assistants at under 1% of all web traffic. The value of being named is that a buyer arrives already knowing who you are, or searches for you directly later. It is rarely a click you can watch happen.

Attribution is early. We install first-party tracking that records AI crawler visits, AI referrals and enquiries, so the picture sharpens over time. Anyone promising you a tidy lead count from ChatGPT today is guessing.

What we can show you is measured: how often each engine names you, whether it links to you, and who it names instead.

Common questions

What is the difference between AI SEO, GEO and AEO?

Very little in practice. GEO stands for generative engine optimisation and AEO for answer engine optimisation. Both describe getting your business named inside AI-generated answers. We use AI SEO because it is the term most people search for, and because the work overlaps heavily with ordinary SEO anyway.

Does traditional SEO still matter?

Yes, more than most AI SEO marketing admits. Published research finds that being retrievable, which is to say ranking well in ordinary search, has a greater effect on whether an engine cites you than most rewrites of the page. We treat the two as one problem.

Which AI engines do you track?

Six surfaces, sampled daily: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode. They are reported separately because published audits put the overlap in sources cited between engines at roughly 11% to 26%.

How do you prove it is working?

A daily series, not a screenshot. You get a dashboard showing how often each engine named you, whether it linked to you, and which competitors were named instead, tracked against a verified baseline taken before the work started.

Do you only work with events businesses?

That is where our measured results are, and we are open about it. The method is not sector-specific, but the evidence we can show you is. We will tell you on the call whether we think we are the right fit for your market.

What does it cost?

Scope and price are agreed on the free intro call before you commit to anything. It depends on the size of your site and how many commercial pages need work.
