How events businesses get recommended by AI search

Buyers are asking ChatGPT and Gemini for suppliers before they ever open Google. Here is how an events business gets named in those answers.

By Steven Cox

More buyers now start with an AI assistant. When someone asks ChatGPT who the best marquee hire company is for a wedding in the Cotswolds, the model hands back a short list of names. If your business is not in it, the enquiry happens without you ever knowing it existed.

Why this is different from Google

Google returns ten links and lets the buyer choose. An AI returns an answer: two or three businesses, named, with a recommendation attached. There is no page two, and most people act on the answer without scrolling further. Being named is the whole game.

How models decide who to name

Models do not rank pages the way a search engine does. They read the web, then synthesise an answer from the sources they can understand and trust. Three things matter most:

  • Your website is easy for a machine to read: clean structure and clear text, not content buried inside images, sliders or scripts.
  • Your business is described consistently everywhere it appears online, so the model can connect the dots and trust the picture.
  • You are clearly associated with the exact things buyers ask about: your services, your region, and your sector.

What this looks like in practice

We recorded ChatGPT naming our client Exhibition Walls as its number one recommendation for exhibition walling. That did not happen by luck. Their site was built to be read cleanly by AI, and their business was described consistently across the web, so the model had a clear, trustworthy picture to draw on.

Where to start

A clean, AI-readable website is the foundation everything else is built on. Getting actively named across the models, and holding that position as they change, is ongoing work. If you run an events business and want to see how you show up today, that is the first thing we check.
